Nope, the short one is correct. The short one connects to the bed, then to the bent metal part. The longer wire goes from the bent metal part, through the dragchain and then onto the PSU.
As it says in the instructions. The wires come out the front (away from the tool-plate) so they do not run the risk of tangling in the locking machanism.

Step 42 shows the old routing. Please do as it says in this step. The wire is plenty long enough if installed correctly. Do not route the wire behind the heatsink as it will snag in the locking mechanism.
Check the position of the wire coming out of the fan. It should be in the top left corner as you look at it when fixing it to the duct.
It was not included in the kit. We will be adding it to future kits.
The next step instrucucts you to repeat the process, however I shall make it a little clearer.
