Introduction

Please be mindful when mounting the bed on printed plastic parts, Ideally, the Varipowered beds should be mounted on a metal frame as these beds are capable of reaching 120°C

Do not touch the heated bed when in use.

Do not print directly onto the PCB surface.

  1. Gather parts:
    • Gather parts:

    • x1 Varipower bed

    • x1 314 x 214 mm borosilicate glass

    • x4 swiss clips

    • x4 PPS plastic spacers

    • x4 M3 screws

    • x8 washers

  2. Before doing anything make sure the printers power supply is not plugged into the wall. It's safer to completely remove the plug, rather than just turning it off. It's safer to completely remove the plug, rather than just turning it off.

  3. Place a washer on one of the 4 M3 screws. Place the screw and washer into the hole in the corner of the bed. Do this for all 4 corners.
    • Place a washer on one of the 4 M3 screws.

    • Place the screw and washer into the hole in the corner of the bed.

    • Do this for all 4 corners.

    • You may find it easier to elevate the heated bed for this step. For this example a piece of scrap foam has been used.

  4. Place a washer on top of the spacer. Screw on the PPS plastic spacer onto the M3 screw. Do this for all 4 corners.
    • Place a washer on top of the spacer.

    • Screw on the PPS plastic spacer onto the M3 screw.

    • Do this for all 4 corners.

    • You can now mount the bed onto your printer.

    • Please see dimensions in datasheet for more information.

  5. Place the Borosilicate glass on the Varipower bed. Place the Borosilicate glass on the Varipower bed.

  6. Swiss clips often come with a tab on the end which can damage the cork backing Don't use the clips in this configuration.

    • Don't use the clips in this configuration.

    • Use a pair of pliers to remove this tab before using them to secure your glass plate.

  7. Secure the Borosilicate glass bed to the Varipower bed. Do this on all 4 edges of the bed. Do this on all 4 edges of the bed.
    • Secure the Borosilicate glass bed to the Varipower bed.

  8. Connect the two blue wires (thermistor) to the bed temperature pin on your printer board. (these are non polarised connections)

    • Connect the two power wires Red and Black to the heated bed power terminals on the printer board. (these are non polarised connections)

    • Image shows a Duet Ethernet board, other board layouts will vary, look up a pin out diagram of your board for specific examples.
